The S&P 500 index initially closed down by 0.2%, with the telecommunications sector falling 1.5%, the technology sector down 0.1%, and the energy sector roughly flat.The Nasdaq 100 Index provisionally closed down 0.3%. Among the constituents, Intel provisionally closed down 4.3%, nuclear power stock CEG fell 3.1%, Meta fell 2.7%, Netflix fell 2.5%, Tesla fell 2%, while Arm Holdings rose 4.9%, Marvell Technology/MemVerge rose 5.9%, and Atlassian rose 6.6%. 3M provisionally closed down 2%, leading losses among Dow Jones constituent stocks along with Procter & Gamble, Johnson & Johnson, Honeywell, and Merck. Apple, Cisco, Goldman Sachs, and JPMorgan all rose at least about 1%, leading the pack with Salesforce.
